The Pas, MB – The Northern Manitoba Blizzard are proud to welcome Josh Gratton as President of Hockey Operations and Head Coach, bringing more than 35 years of experience in hockey to the organization.
A native of Brantford, Ontario, Gratton enjoyed an extensive professional playing career spanning more than 700 games across North America and Europe. His career included 86 games in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers and Phoenix Coyotes, as well as two Calder Cup championships. Throughout his playing career, Gratton was also entrusted with a captain’s letter on six occasions, showcasing the leadership qualities that have remained a defining part of his hockey career.
Following his playing career, Gratton transitioned into coaching and continued to make an impact at the junior and national levels. His experience and leadership were shown in 2024 when he was named the Head Coach and GM with the Winnipeg Blues.
Gratton’s coaching experience has also extended to the international stage. In 2025, he served as an Assistant Coach with Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge, helping guide the team to a silver-medal finish.
Now, Gratton brings that wealth of experience to Northern Manitoba, taking on a leadership role with the Blizzard as the organization continues to establish itself as a premier junior hockey program in the region.
With an extensive playing background, proven coaching experience, and a strong commitment to player development, Gratton will play a central role in shaping the future of Blizzard hockey both on and off the ice.
As the Blizzard continue to build their program in The Pas and throughout Northern Manitoba, Gratton’s experience and leadership will be instrumental in creating a culture built around development, competitiveness, and pride in the North.
